It’s one minute into the teaser trailer for the fifth film of the Indiana Jones franchise – Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny – that Indy picks up his iconic hat and lasso. At that moment it’s confirmed the old Indy is back and fans of the franchise are in for another wild adventure.
Harrison Ford returns to lead the cast as Indiana Jones. The fifth film also features Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory), John Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark), Shaunette Renee Wilson (Black Panther), and Thomas Kretschmann (Das Boot). Additional stars include Toby Jones (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Oliver Richters (Black Widow), Ethann Isidore (Mortel), and Mads Mikkelsen (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore).
James Mangold (Ford v Ferrari, Logan) directs and Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel produce. Steven Spielberg and George Lucas executive produce. John Williams is on board to compose the score. Williams’ association with the Indiana Jones franchise began with the first film of the series, Raiders of the Lost Ark, back in 1981 and continued with 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Disney and Lucasfilm are planning a June 30, 2023 release.
